The sweet scent of citrus groves wafts through the air when you drive through Narcoossee, an unincorporated community bordering the Orlando suburbs of St. Cloud and Lake Nona in eastern Osceola County. Situated on the shores of East Lake Tohopekaliga, this close-knit community offers everything from fantastic weather and affordable home prices to a plethora of amenities and activities just minutes away!
If you’re searching for a new home in a community with plenty of fun activities and adventures, check out this list of 10 things to do in the Narcoossee area will convince you that it’s the ideal place to call home!
1. Lake Nona Farmer’s Market
Locals gather every weekend at the Lake Nona Farmer’s Market, the best place to get your fix of fresh produce, baked goods, plants, and more! The market also includes goods from artisan crafters, and even items specifically for your furry friends. And when you need a break from browsing the booths, sit awhile, enjoy live entertainment, and sample your new goodies.
The Lake Nona Farmer’s Market happens every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lake Nona Town Center.
2. Boxi Park
One of the coolest new spaces in town, Boxi Park is the perfect spot for gathering, chatting, sipping, and supping. This outdoor venue is constructed entirely out of re-purposed shipping containers housing restaurants and cantinas, centered around a shaded courtyard. A stage offers up live entertainment Thursday through Sunday, including popular bands and DJs, and you can even host your private events here!
Plenty of entertainment exists during the daytime, too! A kid’s playground is fun for children of all ages, Barxi Park is a fenced-in, off-leash play area for your pup, and two sand volleyball courts let you join in a game and enjoy some fun in the sun!
Whether you stop by for a bite, stroll through after walking Lake Nona's trails, or work up an appetite on the court, Boxi's outdoor counter-serve restaurants feature all kinds of fare from world-class chefs with Michelin-rated restaurant experience. Grab a sweet treat at Before it Melts, get tacos to-go at Canonita Street Taqueria, grab a burger at The Grill Next Door, and more – there’s something for everyone!
3. Nona Adventure Park
Watersports lovers, rejoice! Living in a new home in Narcoossee means you’re never far away from water fun. Nona Adventure Park is an outdoor fun center for all ages in the center of Lake Nona. Enjoy a bite to eat and beautiful lake scenery at Splashes Bar & Grill, an open-air eatery, or start your wakeboarding journey at the lake’s cable park, ranked the top park for beginners. Kids can even enjoy an exciting summer camp experience at the lake from late May through early August.
The real star of the show is the aqua park, a giant, floating obstacle course. Thrill seekers enjoy 1,000 feet of fun with space to climb, run, jump, and more. If you prefer land-based adventure, head over to the climbing tower, which includes a ropes course, twin sky ropes for racing, and climbing walls, as well as dozens of platforms that give you a bird’s eye view of the entire area.
Relaxation more your speed? Don’t worry, there’s something for you, too, with a lakeside beach hosting many lounge-chairs and a tranquil swimming area.
4. Lakefront Park and Beach
Located on Lakeshore Boulevard along the shores of East Lake Tohopekaliga, Lakefront Park in St. Cloud is a picturesque place to stop and enjoy the sunshine. Soak up the rays while laying out on the sand beach, take the kids to play on the playground and splash pad, ramp up the heat with a game of sand volleyball, or run, bike, or walk along the more than 2 miles of trails. For water lovers, you can fish from the pier or the shoreline, rent a boat from the marina, or launch your own at the public boat ramp.
Stick around for dinnertime and grab a bite overlooking the water at Crabby Bills or Capt. Smitty's, or enjoy a homemade meal from the charcoal grills under the covered pavilions.
5. Enjoy a Round of Golf
Florida is known for its magnificent golf courses! No matter where you live, you’re never far away from somewhere to play, whether it’s a pro-style course or a fun par-3 option. When you live in a new home in the Narcoossee area, you’ll enjoy access to fantastic nearby courses, including Eagle Creek Golf Club and Royal St. Cloud Golf Links.
Designed by two world-renowned golf course architects, Eagle Creek Golf Club is a championship course reminiscent of courses found in Scotland and England. Grab supplies in the picturesque clubhouse with its pro shop or a bite to eat at the Belfry restaurant. You can even get lessons from the on-staff pros if golf is new to you!
A links-style golf course, Royal St. Cloud is a favorite for locals and visitors alike. A stunningly landscaped course is just the beginning though! The course and its grounds are home to a wide variety of events, including tournaments, weddings, and more. Memberships are available but not required to play at this popular destination.
6. Or, Hit Some Balls Indoors (Rain or Shine!) at the Drive Shack
Rain, shine, day, night - Drive Shack is the perfect spot for date nights or group outings thanks to its exciting environment and plenty of delicious food and drinks. The Shack’s driving range includes a multitude of different golf-themed games ideal for all skill levels. And if you find that you really love it, you can join one of Drive Shack’s social leagues, which includes weekly play and the chance to compete for the League Championship!
7. Get Outdoors at Split Oak Forest
Located just a short drive from Narcoossee, Spit Oak Forest is a conservation area named for a spectacular 200-year-old live oak tree that split down the middle – and survived! When you visit this beautiful park, you have access to miles of scenic trails for horseback riding, hiking, and mountain biking. And of course, it’s a prime wildlife viewing spot, from songbirds and gopher tortoises to butterflies and woodpeckers. As you explore the more than 9 miles of trails, you’ll wander through a variety of habitats, including pine flatwoods, hardwood hammocks, cypress swamps, and wet prairies.
8. Explore Nature at Moss Park
Sandwiched between Lake Hart and Lake Mary Jane, Moss Park is the perfect spot to spend a few hours or an entire weekend! Tent and RV camping opportunities are available in this picturesque location with access to plenty of water-based activities.
Spend your day on the water thanks to the park’s kayak, canoe, and boat launches, or fish from your boat, the boardwalk, or the shoreline. When you’re not on the water, enjoy a leisurely picnic by the lake, or hike the trails that meander throughout the park.
9. Take an Airboat Tour of Lake Toho
One of the most unique adventures available in the local area is an airboat tour of Lake Tohopekaliga! This large lake is located just a few miles from Narcoossee and is home to an abundance of wildlife, including alligators, turtles, and a variety of bird species. Airboat tours are the ideal way to see all of this wildlife up close, while safely out of the water.
Our two favorite tour companies – Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures and Wild Willy’s Airboat Tours – provide a fun experience for the whole family to enjoy. Your experienced captains know how to spot the wildlife while telling you about the area’s unique history and biodiversity.
10. Take a Sunset Riverboat Cruise
The boat theme continues with our final item on the list! Toho Riverboat Adventures offers several different riverboat tours on East Lake Toho, from private charters to public cruises including the afternoon day cruise, seasonal cruises, the karaoke cruise, and our favorite, the Sunset Cruise
This 90-minute cruise includes beautiful scenery, with the sun slowly descending as the boat slowly motors across the lake. An onboard bar for drinks and snacks, or you can bring your own. Whether you're getting the girls together for a night out or snuggling up with your honey, we promise this will offer one of the best sunset-viewing opportunities in the entire Orlando area!
